Does Wells Fargo use the Chexsystem to open checking accounts?

I want to open a checking account and am afraid that I might be on the Chexsystem.

Yes, they use ChexSystems. However, if you are in that system it does not mean you won't be able to get an account at all. Just go in and talk to a banker about opening an account. When they run the check they might not be able to offer you a regular checking account, but might be able to offer you an Opportunity checking account, which is for people who are in ChexSystems and just needs to prove that they know how to handle their checking account. After you are in that account for awhile, they will "upgrade" you to a regular checking account. Also, when you go in, and if you are turned down, they can give you a phone number to ChexSystems so that you can find out why you are in the system and how you can possibly get out of the system. (Which would involve paying back the bank you owe money to, or possibly just calling that bank and asking them to remove you if you have already paid them back.)

I have had to deal with ChexSystems before, and I work for a bank. :)
