What are my rights as a tenant in this situation?

I'm a student. 4 in a house. The Landlord is controlling the heating this year.
We all payed for oil at the start of the year-€500 until Christmas.

The house is pretty cold, the heating comes on at 9.00am for one hour. We believe the heating also comes on for another hour in the evening.

As we are paying for the oil separate isn't it are right to control the heating and have it on when ever suits us? What should I do?

Many thanks!

You need to read the terms of your rental agreement. I suspect that the agreement only requires the landlord to maintain some minimum temperature which probably is dictated by local housing laws.

You could express your feelings to the landlord and ask if would provide more heat, perhaps for an additional fee.

Check with your Board of Housing, In most places heat must be provided from 7 am till 10 pm at 68 degrees then 55 degrees the remainder of the time.
