Is it safe to use a debit card to buy things online?

Question

I wanted to buy something that only costs like $15 online.Is it safe to put my card number on a website and share all my personal information?Is there risk of fraud?

A credit card is a much better choice. You are not liable for fraudulent purchases, and if someone gets a hold of your information you can just have the credit card company remove the charges and send you a new number. With a debit card, the money in your checking account can be emptied and you have to fight with your bank to get it back. That can cause a lot of problems for you if you have other bills that need to be paid from that account.

I do it all the time. That being said, there's always a risk anytime you give out your information, but most web site have secure servers to process your card information. Just make sure the site looks reputable and you should be fine.
