It is so hard to quit smoking i dnt know what to do plus i have a cough?

    it is hard but stick with it, you generally get a cough when you first stop, i avoided coffee and tea for the first few weeks as a smoke and a coffe generally go together
    also used to clean my teeth after every meal or snack as a ciggy normally comes after
    the secret is to control your eating as smoking accelerates the metabolism so when you stop people generally eat a little more and put on weight

    It depends on how long you have been smoking.

    Your local GP will probably run a 'stop smoking' clinic in which a nurse will advise you on the best method to help you quit. She will mease your Carbon Monoxide level each time you visit the clinic over a 12 week period. They will provide you with nictotine replacement medicines such as patches, lozenges or chewing gum.

    You can give up without any assistance from patches, hypnotism etc. I gave up smoking after thirty odd years cold turkey. What you need, though, is a very strong motivation. Mine was the birth of my daughter. I promised my wife that I would stop the day she came home from hospital with our daughter. A few weeks later, I had a very mild heart attack but it was enough of a wake up call to enforce my decision to stop. That was enough for me. What you have to do is find a good reason. You could, for example, decide that you are going to put away the money that you would be spending on cigarettes and book yourself a really great holiday and then every time you are tempted to light up, you weigh up losing your holiday against having a smoke. I used to have one of those really disgusting old man coughs and every morning I used to wake up coughing until I was nearly sick. This disappeared within a few weeks.

    I am not saying this works for everyone. but it worked for me. Good luck.

    If you want to achieve anything in life you have to cross the pain threshold. People who can't quit smoking are people who can't handle the pain. It is about will power, self discepline and being strong. You have to sit out the cravings like an adult. You were a non smoker once and you can be one again. That is what I repeated constantly. Also I avoided smoking environments and went cycling to get my fitness levels up.

    When I quit it took about 1 week before the worst of cold turkey was over, about 3 weeks before the cravings stopped properly and then another 3 months before they had totally gone.

    trust me its very hard to quit you should see a doctor or something before you quit.

    Help quit smoking is available and its a good sign that you have the desire to stop now. I have been cigarette free for around 5 years and its one of the best things that I ever did. Remember when you learnt to smoke? Simply put quitting smoking is a habit you need to and can learn. I've attached some links that worked wonders for me. You need no willpower, and its totally natural - no patches etc. The cough and other ailments are just natures warnings which you have heeded by your desire to seek help quit smoking. You'll be proud of yourself and soon feel healthier, fitter and more vibrant.
