Can smoking cause low progesterone levels?

and how long will it take to return to normal , if i have stopped smoking completely?

Well, smoking can DEFINITELY affect the health of your eggs, and the follicle in which the egg matures is what releases progesterone after the egg has been released...having an unhealthy egg can lead to lowered progesterone levels, so yeah...i'd say that smoking could DEFINITELY lead to low progesterone!

It takes an egg a year to fully mature from the tiny speck you are born with to a full, ripened, ready to be fertilized egg...however, most of that maturing is done in the last 3 months with the bulk of THAT maturation stage happening in the 2 weeks or so leading up to ovulation. It could take several months for your hormone levels to be what they should be, assuming that smoking is the leading cause for your lowered progesterone.
