How do I put spouses name on house ?

Weve been married for over a year and I really need to add my wifes name to my house. How do I do it without refinacing? We live in Oregon.

    No problem. Just deed an undivided 50% to her. Deed forms are available as most office supply stores. However, check with your mortgagee. Most mortgages can be called due if title changes. Adding your wife may be an exception, but the mortgagee may want her to sign an affidavit acknowledging she is aware there is a mortgage on the property.

    The other poster is correct about both deeding it to her. Usually you just file a Quit Claim Deed with yourself as the grantor and both you and your wife as the grantee.

    There is usually language in a mortgage agreement that forbids this as he mentioned. I've done it between myself and businesses that operate rental units about a dozen times and no one has ever said a thing. They won't be notified by the county regarding the ownership change. As long as they get paid they don't seem to care much.
