Question ? on easement?

I have a fence owned by the highways agency at the bottom of my garden , they have access to the other side by not mine . Thier solicitors have wrote to me asking for a 2mtr easement on my land . they have also wrote to all the other land owners . They have offered me £250 . I`m not interested in the money . I dont want them to have it as it looks like the want to put a path/road through eveyones gardens to maintain this fence . The solicitors letter has basically said , if i say no they will use thier statutory power or other methods to secure access ! Is there antthing I can do ? Thanks in advance

I would let a lawyer take a look at the letter. Sounds like they're trying to bully you and your neighbors into complying. If they want an easement your lawyer can inform you if you should ask for more compensation, a monthly or annual fee for the right of entry onto the land, etc. But it just sounds like typical bureaucratic manipulation to me.
