Do I just talk to my doctor if I want ADD medication?

I have tried college a couple times in the past, but wasn't able to pass even the basic of classes, and I really think I have an issue with Attention Defficit. I want to go back to school, but before I do, I want to adress this issue. Do I just tell my doctor and he will give me something? Or do I have to go through a phsychiatrist or something?

I suggest you speak to your doctor and get a referral for a full Educational Evaluation. There are many reasons people have difficulty in school/learning. Some can be addressed by medication, others are addressed using various learning tools and behavioral strategies. You want to be evaluated by people who specialize in these problems, because you don't want to waste time and money taking medications you may not need, and don't address your difficulties or help you. If your doctor can not make a referral, speak to the principal at your local public school and see if they have a list of specialists in your area. Since they are required to have this testing done for students, they should be able to point you in the right direction.
