Can I extend the validity of my passport while I am in a foreign country?

Question

I am a student in a foreign country, and my passport is already expired. if I want to renew my passport throught the consulate of my embassy, it is going to take about 2 months. but I am planning to go to another country for vacation, and I need a valid passport. Can I extend the validity of my expired passport throught the consulate of my country? or can they not extend it because it is already expired? what do you think? Thanks!!

Usualy u need a 6 months passport validity for stampping a visa in your passport.One of the most important jobs for the consulate is to renew or extend the passport validities. So I suggest that if u r in hurry to renew or extend the validity you should talk directly with the head of consulate,,,,and as a staff in one of embassies I must tell u that this procedure takes no longer than few hours,,,so go for it ASAP.

That's tough. You have to do it through the embassy/consulate as you have already pointed out. Your second question is superfluous. Yes, it will take them longer than if you were renewing in your home country, but that's how it always is. Whether they can extend it depends on whether the passport has been extended in the past. But to leave your passport until it is well past its validity is not wise when in a foreign country. You will have to cancel your trip if you don't have a valid passport.

The only time you could get an extension or an emergency pass would be if you had to go home on a crisis. For vacation purposes you will not get an extension,you have to apply for a new passport.
Anytime a passport is expired it should have been renewed (at the 6 months left on passport) and not after expired.

then you get the PP renewed and forget the trip - your passport is waym more important than any stupid trip

why did you let it expire - you should have renewed it 3 months ago

Now you are in trouble totally because you were just so LAZY

No they cant extend it - you have to pay for a whole new passport.

One more thing - is your student permit still valid?

they are usually tied to the PP, so if the PP jhas expired then the study permit has also expired which means you are ILLEGAL

You MUST be reported to the government for being an ILLEGAL student.

you can't you need to go to your permanent country where your passport to renew it or if you can't..
then my what a mess you're gonna be in.

they can issue a temporaly Passport, that shouls solve the problem till you wait for your normal one
