Interested in becoming a federal agent. What do I do?

1. Stay squeaky clean in your finances, interpersonal actions and driving habits. See that your word has the highest possible value and that everyone who deals with you knows this.

2. Get the best education that you can manage. Write and speak well. Work on your report writing and take every speech class that you can find.

3. Get experience with some reputable law enforcement agencies.

4. Make contact with your target agencies to see if they offer intern programs. If so -- apply. If not -- establish a good relationship with the recruiters.

5. Get yourself into stellar shape.

6. Think things through before acting. Never give in to impulses.

7. Work on your logic skills.

8. Learn to interact well with people. You might consider some sales experience. It helps more than most people can imagine.
