Focalin XR Help me please!?

I have been taking this the last 2-3 weeks. Yesterday I took it late in the afternoon. Now I can't sleep I have rapid heartbeat and feel horrible. I decided to stop taking the drug tomorrow. Anything I can do to dumb down the side effects?

Well, you can't sleep because you took it too late, and it is meant to last for an extended period of time. I wouldn't just stop taking it all of a sudden, I would speak to my psychiatrist first. If you are all of a sudden getting bad side effects that you have never experienced before, then maybe you need to lower your dose. A rise in pulse and blood pressure are not unheard of with methylphenidate, so that isn't exactly something to be alarmed about, unless you feel like you are going to have a heart attack or something. Take it with food, make sure you drink enough water, and do not take it later in the day if you miss your dose. Just take it the next day

I'm not sure if Focalin XR is an amphetamine like Adderal XR, but two weeks ago after two days of taking it I had horrible chest pains, shortness of breath, and the whole left side of my body was sore and weak. Still, when I get stressed, it comes back slightly, and I'm not even taking it anymore. I'm extremely worried I might have some sort of internal damage, even though my doctor says it's "anxiety". ADD sucks, but I don't no if it's worth the health risk to have a clear brain. :[
