Adoption is a ball of mixed feelings for me. I love my adoptive family, they love me, but I am not related to anyone in that family. My biological family love me, I love them, we are all related, but we do not get along, too many differences in our lives.

I wish in a perfect world that I was raised with my biological family, raised with my three younger siblings and wish they could be a part of my life. However, I am adopted, that's my reality and one I have learned to accept.

Being adopted from foster care at the age of two, I was lucky to be adopted by my only parents (former foster parents) who raised me from birth. I knew what my name would have been, and more than the average adoptee as my foster parents (adoptive parents) raised me. When a foster child comes into a home regardless of age, paperwork with the names of the biological parents, DOB's, etc is given to the foster parents.

I was lucky having all that information that I was able to meet my biological parents at the age of fifteen.

I knew I was adopted from when I was able to understand the basic understandings of adoption.

Yes, my foster parents, now adoptive parents saved my life literally.

I am not an adoptee, so I apologize for answering a question directed toward adoptees.

However, not to be nitpicky, but adoptees do not have foster parents. They have adoptive parents. Adoption is permanent.

Foster parents provide temporary homes to children who need them, due to abuse or neglect.

I've been in reunion with my daughter for 10 years. She loves BOTH her families. She always knew she was adopted. She had a strong desire to know her roots that's why she came looking for me.

    How did you feel?
Like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.

When did you find out you were adopted?
The earliest I can recall was around five or so.

Do you like your Foster parents?
I met my first set of Foster Parents when I was 3 days old. Unfortunately I don't remember them. The second set was when I was 13 and she (a single foster parent) was a wonderful woman. I stayed with her for over two years.

    How is it?
    How is what?

Do you ever in your life wanna find your birth parents?!
I am currently in the process.

Hi ℓεxιє ιs Ρяєττy -и- Ραιd,

By "adoption people" I'm guessing you mean adoptees.

How do we feel? Do you mean how do we feel about adoption itself? Personally, I believe American adoption is one of the cruelest things you can do to a child. And it's not kind to the child's family either. I would say adoption as it's practiced is a failed social experiment that has outlived any intended good purpose, and it's time to make major changes. Feel free to hit the adoption "resolved" tab and you will learn a lot about how adoptees feel about adoption.

Yes, was reunited with my first family in 1993. It was one of the highlights of my life. Living in the dark is no way to force an adoptee to live. Always knew I had to find them or else die trying, so I have no regrets there.

When did I find out I was adopted? Always knew.

Do I like my foster parents? Would love to meet them again. I have not seen them since I was a toddler and the laws do not allow adult adoptees to know who their foster parents were. You do know that foster parents & adoptive parents are two different things, right?

I'm not a birth mother I am a mother - I did more than just give birth like some kind of machine - but will answer your questions.

My son has major issues with being adopted, he always knew he was adopted.

He searched for me but found his grandparents, aunt and uncle, plus his three cousins. They are relatives plain and simple because they couldn't give birth to him, only I could. I found him without actively searching over five years ago and during this time he did live with us for almost 2 1/2 years.

He doesn't remember his foster carer as he was only with her from the age of one week old to 6 weeks old.

I felt unwanted; my entire childhood. Not only because I was told over and over again (by my adoptive parents) that I wasn't wanted by my birth parents but also because they didn't 'want' me either. I knew my birth mom; she died in 2001. My birth father has admitted that I'm his 'deep, dark secret that his wife and children do not know about and never will'. As far back as I remember I was told that I was 'ugly, worthless, would never amount to anything' and that 'even your REAL parents didn't want you'. So, in summarization; being adopted was NOT a good experience for me.

    how did you feel?

About being adopted? Well, in my own opinion it sucks. My birth mother didn't love me enough to take care of me and stay sober. I was my adoptive parents second choice, not that they really chose me. If there had been another white, healthy, baby girl she would have been taken to their home, not me.

did you ever find your birth parents?
My birth mom called me. She was all great and wonderful and we had so much in common at the beginning. Then she began her mind games, became abusive, and down right nasty. The first time my Biological father touched me was when he hugged me when I was 16. He is an alcoholic.

when did you find out you were adopted?
My parents told me when I was young, around 3 or so.

Do you like your Foster Parents?
I do not, nor have I ever had foster parents. I was adopted at 8 months old. To assume all adoptees have/had Foster Parents is ridiculous.

    How is it?
What my Mom and Dad? They are great. Not perfect, but they did the best they could. When I was in reunion, my Birth Mom said she wanted to try and parent me at the age of 16. I Called my little brother a spoiled brat because he cut a fit for my little serving of food, when he had a plate full he had already finished, and I hadn't ate all day. My birth mom always told me I was her child her daughter, but boy oh boy when I hurt my little brother I was hurting HER child, and she told me frequently I wasn't her daughter anymore, that she didn't have to take care of me. She wanted me to love her and call her mom, and let her be my parent, but when I would make a mistake or need something that costs money, she would say I wasn't hers. To call my 'parents' cause that's what they are there for After she put me through all that hell, and manipulated me, and I told my mom and dad she was my family they weren't they still loved me, and did all the could for me. That's my real family.

do you ever in your life wanna find your birth parents?!
No never again. I want to get custody of my little brother though once social services gets done investigating.
