Show me another »Can my older brother sponsor me for US Green Card if I am a New Zealand Permanent Resident?
He will get his citizenship in 2 years..I am 24.He is 33.

Once he gets his citizenship he can. it doesn't matter what your current nationality. but it does take quite a long time, a minimum of 11 years. longer if your nationality is Filipino or Mexican .Sign in to vote!

Your brother can petition for you only when he is a USA citizen. Then, there will be a long wait, minimum 10-11 years (or could be longer, depending on your country of Birth, not residency or citizenship).Source(s):
