At what age can a child, who is a citizen of the US, help their parents obtain their citizenship?

Im 17, and my parents don't have citizenship of US, but have work permits. I've heard from many people that the age in which i can help document them is 18, and others say 21. If you can, add sources.

Your question is: At what age can a child who is a U.S. citizen help their parents obtain their citizenship? You would have to be 21 years old to petition for them to become permanent residents.

There isn't any age at which you can help them become U.S.citizens. However, you can help them to become permanent residents when you're 21. Once they're permanent residents, they can apply for naturalization after five years of living in the U.S. as green card holders.

(Whether they have Social Security cards and drivers licenses doesn't make any difference.)

If you were under 21 when the visa petition was filed on your behalf and then turned 21, you may be eligible for coverage under the Child Status Protection Act.

I know it suck, but its what its.you should have someone else who is over the age of 20 filed petition on your behalf.

well, you can't actually file petitions for your parents until you turn 21. you can confirm that on either www.uscis.gov or travel.state.gov. so what is your parents' actual status, TPS, asylum, refugee or something else? usually asylees or refugees can qualifiy for permanent resident status on their own.

If they have "work permits" their employers can file immigration papers for them.

You have to wait until age 21 before you can file for them.

If they are illegally living in the United States any hope of them getting "documents" will have to start with a trip home. Additionally, they'll need a waiver to come back.
