Why is my 9 year old collie is whining for no reason?

I have a 9 year old collie, who will be 10 in March. A week ago she randomly started whining in the middle of the night, we looked around to make sure there's wasn't anything bothering her like mice or anything, we couldn't find anything. She didn't do it again until last night, and we looked around again and we couldn't find anything to explain why she was whining. We fed her about three hours before she went to bed, and we took her out, but she didn't need to go to the bathroom and when she came back in she still kept whining. I know older collies can have problems with their hips, but I haven't noticed any problems with her walking. Could anyone please tell me if there's something I can do or why this is happening? Thanks :)

I'd start with a vet visit to make sure there's no physical problems you can't see. When you are there, ask about canine cognitive disorder. It is similar to Alzheimer's in humans.
