Worst thing a customer said to you?

For me, it was:

Customer: "Is he (while pointing at me) the African?"
Coworker (who is friends with the customer): Yea
Customer: "Man, those Africans....***insert insulting remarks here**... and them Indians too."
Me: (Standing right next to this loud-mouth): Excuse me? Did she just insult me for being African?
Coworker: Let it go...

So, what was the worst thing a customer ever said to you at work?

when i was working in retail face to face with customers all the time. i found it annoying that my customers kept assuming my ethnicity and they were often wrong. and when i was working the cash register, this customer verbally attacked me because i told him "sir, this is the 10 items or less lane. how many do you have?" and he blew up on me.

when i was working in the call center, i got customers barking at me, using foul language and saying that I'm a ********* because i didn't give them what they want or they were impatient.

when i worked as a telemarketer, it was worse. people hung up on me all the time saying the next time i called they're going to call a lawyer on me.

when i work as a housekeeper some customers say i'm too tense while i work and i needed to relax (because i'm trying to clean as much as possible)
the other customer i had when i was trying to get a much cleaning done as possible and i said i was going to come back and finish the job and made an appointment but i had to cancel because of an emergency and had to reschedule, she implied that i was slow and i should have been finished cleaning and organizing her entire house in 5-6 hours.
and she says she couldn't afford to pay me again because she's not rich when she lives in a rich high rise building with a lobby and a security guard/receptionist.

I used to work in the home entertainment section of a shop dealing with tv's, dvd players, mp3's, games consoles and all the various accesories. I once went up to a male customer who actually had the balls to say to me- 'No, I'll wait for him (pointing to my male co-worker) cause he'll know what he's on about.'

I was SO annoyed.. especially cause I was actually the one who knew the most about dvd's in the shop!!

Other than that it's just folks swearing at me cause I wasn't able to do the impossible... Oh no, wait. Another good one- When I worked for a bank a customer who's card had been taken by a machine said she was gonna bash my £$%^ing head in because i wouldn't give her card back. I was actually a little scared at that one and 2 of the guys i worked with had to walk me home!

    Customers suck!!

i work in a call center and i had someone who didn't pay there bill for 9 months because they decided then didn't want our insurance so they were dropped and then they got a prescription and we wouldn't pay for it because he no longer has our insurance and he said

"I hope you get sick and die the most painful death that is possible. If i knew who you were i would hit you with my car and kill you. You are the biggest ***** in the entire work and you should burn in hell with your company. I don't care if i didn't pay my bill for 20 years you're supposed to be here to help people but you're to stupid to realize that. I'm suing you and your company for this but before that i am finding you and murdering you"

Someone threatened to kill me once- over photographs....security swept him away and I'm pretty sure it was a very bumpy ride for him that ended with some "lessons" he would wake up remembering.

I used to work for a major hotel/casino here in Las Vegas, and we had pretty strict rules about checking people in - we had to see picture ID (even if it was from Sam's Club) their name had to match the one on their ID, and their name had to be on the reservation.

I refused to check someone in because his name was not on the pre-paid reservation - we weren't sold out, so I offered to check him in under his own name and payment method & he hollered, "What are you, f'in retarded? I'm not paying for another room when I have a paid reservation, you retarded f'in b****!" He then proceeded to stand around waiting for his buddy (whose name was on the reservation) to arrive & periodically walk by, point at me & chant 'Retard! Retard!" at me. And the guy was sober, too.

In another situation, we were completely sold out - it was a holiday weekend - and a woman of a different color than myself tried to check in. I told her we were sold out & I did not have a room to sell her. She then began screaming at me that I was a racist and I was discriminating against her, went to my manager (who was the same color as the customer, but a man) and when my manager refused to check her in, she began screaming at both of us for being racist AND sexist.

Some days, you just can't win.
