Audio configuration on itunes/volume doesn't work on anything. What's going on?

I was going through files and deleting them, and I deleted a handful that seemed useless (one was titled "Bonjour", which happened to be a part of itunes, so I redownloaded itunes 9)
however, now when I try to play itunes, it shows time 0:00 and won't play, and it gives me this error message:
iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio / Video playback may not work properly.

I thought it was a problem with quicktime, so i downloaded the newer version.
Now I realize that I can't listen to ANYTHING on my speakers whatsoever, so youtube, but i can still see the videos play.

How do I fix this? :S

First: you should check all the cables from your computer( skip to step 2 if you are using a laptop) Make sure every cable i plugged into the right slot.

Second: Next to the clock in the lower right hand corner, click the arrow to show more icons. One of those icons should look like a speaker, double click on that. A screen should pop up.

Third: On the left hand side of the screen that just popped up, should say master volume. If the box below it is checked, un-check it. If it is not checked, they look up to the scrool bar. Move the bar up on the scale. This should fix your problem. If not just try restarting your computer.
