How long do you expect your new furniture to last?

I have a love-seat that I really like. It's 5 year old, my dog destroyed the fabric on it. Would it be more economical to have it re-upholstered than buy a new one?

How long should we expect a couch to last nowadays?

A well made frame will last several life-times if not abused.
(Look at all those antiques out there.)
'Junk' won't. Just what quality frame are we talking about?
Even if you really like that frame, check out replacement cost versus
custom upholstery. It's expensive, but you do get just what you want.

I like the option of restoring it, if it's well made to begin with. That way you're keeping it out of the landfill and continuing to enjoy it, if you reupholster it.
