Hennessy, as has been said, is cognac. This is a brandy made in a specific region of France from a particular kind of grape. All cognac is brandy, but can only be cognac if it comes from the region. If you'd like more info, check out:

A cognac such as Hennessy is not classified in Licor # Liqueurs # but in the brandies family.
It is a somewhat a nice cognac not the best.
