I have 11 blue spruces in my backyard which act as a screen from the noisy street. Why are they brown inside?

Question

They are about 13-14 ft tall. are they dying off?

Additional Details

is it normal for them to run brown inside during the winter?

It is normal for them to be brown on the inside. All coniferous evergreens get brown on the inside. There could be problems like too much water and insects or disease but to answer youe question , yes its normal. Are the tips of the branches still OK ? Did they have new growth last spring ?

When you say 'brown inside' are you having to part the green growth to see the brown parts or are they obvious? If they are obvious then could well be as suggested above and could be lack of nutrients. If however you're moving the green growth out of the way to see the brown bits, then that would be natural and down to lack of light

It depends they could have spider-mite which you would spray for. You should really have an arborist come out or tree care person to check on it.

probalby a lack of nutrients. i think they like acidic soil ..... better google for there care
