What's a fair price for getting shirts laundered at the cleaners?

I've taken my shirts (collared, casual) to a couple of local dry cleaners for laundering but they've each charged about $5 per shirt. That's a little too expensive for me. Is that the going rate or am I likely to find somebody cheaper if I shop around? I am in New Jersey.

I used to work at a dry cleaner and we charged 10 dollars per shirt. It was a very upscale cleaner/part of town and I thought that 10 dollars was a ridiculous price. It definitely depends on what part of the country you live in, but I think 5 dollars is still too much. When I lived in Texas, there were places that would clean shirts for 1.65 but it's more expensive here in Florida and I would definitely say it's more expensive up in NJ. Experiment with a cheaper cleaners and see if they do a decent job. Also, make sure your shirts actually need to be dry cleaned. If they don't, launder them yourself and get the cleaners to "press only" and you will pay less.
