College tuition university of michigan?

I want to go to University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. I want to go there for the psychology program. I live in CA, and I saw that the tuition for a resident of Michigan is 20k, and for anyone else it is 45k... per year. I do not come from a family with a lot of money, but I get good grades. I am thinking about going to a JC near the University of Michigan to higher my chances of getting in. If I did that and owned some land in Michigan, can I become a resident and get the in state tuition?

Nope, the government makes it next to near impossible to loose residency in your own (parents) state when you are under 25. You would need to own land AND find someone to marry or have a kid with in order to get that in state tuition sorry to say, or join the military.

If you dont have the grades to get in right away, then your best bet is to stay in CA for a year or two at a local cc- save as much money as you can by living home, and then see if you cant transfer.
Otherwise, you could go to Eastern Michigan or UofM Dearborn/Flint then transfer thats what many Michiganders do to get in but I wouldnt say thats a great bet with the out of state tuition.
