Did Jesus preach a false gospel of works?

"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left.

Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.'

Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?'

And the King will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.'

Then they also will answer, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?' Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Nice rebuttal. This will go right over the heads of most Catholic haters though.

We are saved by faith and by faith alone.

However, works are a physical manifestation of our faith.

Therefore, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts and the blindness of their minds—went forth among them in that same year, and began to testify, boldly, repentance and remission of sins through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

17 And he did minister many things unto them; and all of them cannot be written, and a part of them would not suffice, therefore they are not written in this book. And Nephi did minister with power and with great authority.

18 And it came to pass that they were angry with him, even because he had greater power than they, for it were not possible that they could disbelieve his words, for so great was his faith on the Lord Jesus Christ that angels did minister unto him daily.

19 And in the name of Jesus did he cast out devils and unclean spirits; and even his brother did he raise from the dead, after he had been bludgeoned and suffered death by the people.

20 And the people saw it, and did witness of it, and were angry with him because of his power; and he did also do many more miracles, in the sight of the people, in the name of Jesus.

No Jesus does not preach a false gospel of works? Your question makes no sense. What is the false gospel of works you're taking about? He is telling you what's going to happen if you don't love your neighbor as yourself.

The sheep are his followers and the goats are the ones who will be cast into the fire for eternity because of the their rotten hearts.

That depends, I suppose, on your point of view. As a result of years of study, I have come to agree with some scholars who now theorize that Jesus was nothing more--or less--than a normal, mortal, man, trying to reclaim his mortal family's royal heritage, and that he was somehow selected to become a figurehead for the Church, with pretty much his entire life and "works" made up.

Do some research into the history of Christianity, that's my advice, look at all of the traditions and laws and stories that were ripped off from older faith systems. Look at how conveniently the supposed word of god matched what the early Church fathers needed to keep their religion alive.

    Good luck.

    Your Answer:
Faith without God's Works is dead, yet even the darkness belongs to Him and is light as lesser light divided as eventually permanently separated outside in the darkness where there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. These were the subjects of the the kingdom of the lesser light taxation who decided not to go and serve the Light.

No one who loves and continues to practice evil is serving The Light or Love of God in keeping The Commandment. For how can The Love of God be in those who reject His Goodness and Mercy? When peoples are 'fully' training themselves in The Gospel, they will become eligible to be called counted among those who are 'like' their Teacher; for there is One Teacher who Is God and Scripture is useful for what was good if used well. Faith working unto welling up to Salvation is The Gospel of God; to also add to faith some knowledge to guide ones mind is Paul and to remove and repel the dark darts of the evil innundations of the evil thoughts and attitudes of the heart is the battle for the Kingdom of God.

For whatever God had done will remain as fruits appealing to remain in the Garden of God in the Paradise of God in the New Earth and New Jerusalem to come. That it may be shown that what was done was done through God and By God and for God for if God is with us who could prevail in turning Him asunder?

These things are given to those who bear the fruits of The Kingdom of God for to as many as receive Him to them who believed on His Name; to these He has given power to become children of God up to and including the time of the fulfillment and realization in The Resurrection and The Life before The Bhema Seat as the New Creation of The New Tabernacle of The Beauty and Glories as Angelican.

Whatsoever was sown, one will reap from. If one sows to The Spirit of God, one bears fruits. If one sows to the sinful desires of the itching ears of the fallen inner being in pleasing only ones self, one will bear fruits to be Judged.

Unless The Lord Builds, the laborers labor in vanity under the sun. If one knows that one will need things in the next life one would be wise take appropriate actions to build such a future and to continue to store up there. For did not Pharoah build great monuments to show the peoples of what was to be gained in the next life as a physical example?

Can you see that these questions Jesus asked are based on the LAW? In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus gave the two foremost commandments, and said, "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'

If you'll notice the last line you quoted, the RIGHTEOUS go away into eternal life. This would be a good study for you to undertake. What is God's arrangement for the forgiveness of sins, that one may be reckoned "righteous" in His sight?

The unrighteous ones ARE judged based on the Law and their response to it. Did they do the works commanded in the Law? This is the only basis by which they can be judged, because they failed to accept the pardon that the Judge offered--having their sins paid for in full by the blood of the Lamb.

I recommend doing a study in the book of Romans. This is all explained there.

Of course Jesus Christ taught nothing that was false. He taught that salvation is by faith and works.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as faith without works. I think genuine faith brings with it an irresistible urge to engage in good works, to live according to the Will of God.

I do not believe that "faith without works" is merely insufficient. I believe that "faith without works" is impossible.

Maybe for an infinitesimally brief moment, there can be "faith without works", at the first instant of faith. After that first instant of faith, the irresistible urge to engage in good works draws one toward living in harmony with the Will of God and toward serving God by caring genuinely and actively for His Creation.

I think it also should be remembered that performance of good works often helps to strengthen one's faith. To engage in good works can even be the start of faith. Some of the most persuasive encouragement to believe in God can be experienced by observing His Grace in action in difficult situations. To try to help someone in an intensely difficult situation, and have it "all work out just fine" can be very strong encouragement to ponder God. Such pondering, if genuine and persistent, usually leads to stronger faith.

    I am Roman Catholic.
    Peace be with you.
