Do female coaches get respect in 'male sports'?
I am needing to pick my coaching specialities and would like to coach baseball but I am wondering if I would get a job coaching high school/college as a female or the players would not respect me as a 'girl'?

They should, but they don't. I was a high school sports writer, and I remember several instances of encouraging a female coach to apply for a new vacancy of a boys team, but they didn't even have the confidence to try. That made me sad, because I knew (A) they were more than qualified and (B) a male coach wouldn't have the same kind of qualms about applying for a girls sports coaching position. I will say one thing for certain: I'd have no problems playing for or respecting a female coach if she was good and earned her position.

they wouldn't respect you because you don't understand the game.

If they got a big enough pair they do! lol Some female coaches can be just as much a-holes as male coaches. Besides that respect has to be earned not given, it depends on the woman & the man for that matter! I have seen plenty of male coaches not get any respect because they dont demand it!
Edit: For the record after re-reading my respons I meant Cajones not Breasts!

I've heard of female baseball coaches before, but if it doesn't work out, you should try coaching softball. I play little league and it's a blast.

I see lots of offensive answers....but little content.
I say give it a shot. If you are good at what you do, you will EARN their respect. But know one thing: in the "good ole boys club" that is the sports world, you have a LONG road in front of you.
