I don't know if those people who answered before me had read this article.

Indolence of the FIlipinos is Rizal's answer to the Spaniards who keep on complaining about the "laziness" of the FIlipinos. On their observations, Filipinos tend to sleep after lunch. To defend the FIlipinos, Rizal explained that the FIlipinos are having that rest period since it is hard for them to work under the scorching rays of the sun at noon time here in the Philippines; and that the Filipinos are not to blame for that since the Philippines is near the equator. He also mentioned that the Filipino workers are far more industrious compared to those pale-skinned Spaniards who comes late to office then leave early.

He also said some other things bu I cannot compile them on my mind now.

Just remember that the essay Indolence of the Filipinos is Rizal's defense on the accusations of the Spaniards.

The filipino's biggest flaw is that they can't take criticism, even good criticism. You can't tell a filipino what they are doing wrong or how they might better themselves, everything you say is an insult. If someone has a problem you tell them and you do it in a way to try and help them learn and get better... this is what makes people better. The ability to learn from ones past mistakes and accomplishments. However this is where Filipino's fail hands down. You can't comment to a filipino starving family that maybe instead of that new big TV they should have bought rice for the month, they will argue they need that big TV because its an inch bigger then the one their neighbor just bought. Same thing with cell phones, most filipino's have 2 and on average 1 costs at least 5-10k peso's while you can easily buy a used one that works great for 800 peso's. But heaven forbid you ever mention their flaws.

probably because filipinos during that time and even today,...are indolent as it could be!

he was just stating the realisms and facts, so as to motivate the filipinos to fight against the spanish autocracy and gain independence,...

let's make it as...."TOUGH LOVE PSYCHOLOGY"

rizal love the philippines right,...and why the hell he would state the negative traits of the filipinos?

lets take this for example....."if your child is quite slow, and you want to improve him,....you might tell him, that he is, so that he might REALIZE...and motivate him to change for the better...

"MY SON, YOU'RE SLOW AND DULL!!!, BUT I WANT YOU TO GET BETTER"

    gets mo?
