Can u be arrested and charged for faking a suicide online?

they question is as is, no more added or taken away. Can a person be arrested for faking a cyber suicide or suicide attempt online? Why? What can they be charged with, if anything?

Of course you can be charged! It does not matter if your online or not. It would only be a misdeamenor but they would hit you with the largest possible fine. Cops take this stuff seriously. They actually did a show about this exact thing on Law in Order:SVU.

Yes, mainly if you report it to an emergency response group, website, or hot line. If you report it to Joe Schmo in a chat room, then it's your word against his and isn't worth investigating, however if you go to an online 911 or suicide hot line or some other related place and do this, it's no different than calling 911 and telling them there's a robbery in progress at a given address-this is filing a false report. This is a ridiculous question, is this what kids are doing now? Anytime you do anything against the rules or the norm you will get in trouble and if it is bad enough you will go to jail. For this situation you wouldn't go to jail but may be locked in the Pysch Ward for a 72 hour hold at least and depending on how many law enforcement people got involved you may have to pay restitution to the City for wasting every ones time on something that was fake. This is really stupid and if you are doing this or your friends you should go talk to a therapist because you have some issues big time. Don't know the name of the exact charge this would be.
