Can I connect a vinyl record player to a surround sound system?

I'm considering buying a surround sound system for my house, and I have a vinyl record player (turntable) but I do not have any speakers or means of playing the records, other than through my computer. If I buy this sound system, will I be able to hook up my vinyl player to the system and hear the music through the speakers?
