Pick me a book for my reading assignment.?

Question

For our fall reading project, I have to read one of the following. I really enjoy suspense and romance, but whatever is best works.

Here are my choices:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Princess Bride by William Goldman
Emma by Jane Austen
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Silas Marner by George Elliot
Tess of the Dubervilles by Thomas Hardy

I'd probably go with Pride and Prejudice but if you like mystery Rebecca might be the way to go.

All of those are great choices!

I recommend one of these 3 for you, but really you couldn't go wrong with any of the books on the list:
Pride & Prejudice = romance with some humor
The Princess Bride = romance and humor (if you've ever seen the movie, it should give you a good idea of what the book's about. The movie is actually rather close to the book.)
Rebecca = romance & mystery

Oh, I suggest the Princess Bride. It's much more readable for a contemporary audience, is funny, creative, and unique in it's approach. (In fact, I'm surprised it's an option with others you listed.)
