Is it "normal" to gain weight after you stop taking Effexor XR?

I was a smoker and had been on 300 mg of Effexor XR for 10 + years. I know people gain weight after quitting smoking but it has been over a year for the not smoking and 8 months since I got off of the pills yet I am still gaining weight. Is my body still trying to regulate its self or something? I'm trying to eat healthy but I am always hungry and have such a hard time motivating myself to exercise since I never had to before. 3 years ago I was ok with my body..now I don't even like going anywhere because I feel so gross. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything I can take (like herbs, supplements, etc) that ACTUALLY WORKS that will help get this weight off and improve my mood? Please help...

I went 3 days without eating, I only drank water, my stomach shrank down almost flat, and I didn't require as much food to fill myself up. Soup is a good diet.
