Will My American Apparel Jacket shrink?

Question

I bought a size large when im a medium, the tag says its 80% cotton 20% polyester.
How much will it shrink if i wash it in cold water and how much will it shrink if i put it in HOT water.

American Apparel pre- shrinks their material before sewing the garments which means that it does not matter if you wash in hot or cold water, they will shrink just a tiny bit (maybe 1/4 to a maximum of 1/2 inch) in length and across the shoulders etc.

If it is too large for you, too bad. You have to get them tailored.

If you like you can try hot wash, but like I said, you would not have any noticeable shrinkage.

Most everything that I've gotten from American Apparel doesn't shrink, or if it does, not enough for it to be real noticeable. I always wash in cold water, though. So maybe give hot water a try and see how it goes?
