Don't panic about class rank. Those people aren't you. You do your best.
Worry about doing well in class and college applications. That's what's important. There should be 3 groups of colleges you should apply to:
1) "Sure shot" community and state universities.
2) "Nicer", in-state but private or religious universities.
3) "Long-shot", "no way in hell", "I can't afford without a full scholarship", "dream colleges" (Princeton, Georgetown, Ivy League...)
Now... make sure you apply to some of each of these! And when you get letters back from them... the worst they can tell you is "you're not accepted." And even if you ARE accepted to someplace like Princeton, you might not be able to afford it.
So then you have a backup of #2 -- your "nicer, instate" colleges. But what if that doesn't even work? Then you have a backup of your good old #1 choice -- community colleges, or public universities.
