Is the occasional beer at age 14 bad ?

i drink the occasional beer, at MAX 1 a week. usually about 2 a month. I just like the taste and the little buzz it gives you, but what i am getting to is it really even that bad for you?? Will it make me stupid? and In our health classes they always tells us that alcohol makes you sterile and can give you neurological problems, like will it eefect my brain's growth?? But in small amounts is it that bad?

by the way : Im 6'2 and around 160 pounds. ( if that has anything to do with it )

Thanks Jason

Dude, you've just hit puberty. What makes you think drinking alcohol is ok, at any amount? 2 years from now you could be sitting in a field with your buddies downing a 12 pack a piece before taking off to bat mail boxes and shooting paint balls at animals. Don't drink. Take it from a recovering addict/alcoholic. When I was 17, I didn't think taking a drag from a joint was going to derail me. When I was 27 I didn't think going to the pub each week for pints was going to derail me.

It all did. I allowed it into my lifestyle at what ever amount and continued to do so. I paid for it. You'll make your excuses probably justifying it all and there is that chance you could come out unscathed, but Jason...there is the more likely scenario of your life being damaged by drugs. You'll regret it, trust me. You'll regret it.

How can you even stomach it?
Beer is so watered down and disgusting.
Overall, Alcohol is bad for your health.
2 a month shouldn't have any major effects, But in the long run it probably could cause some damage.

It may not seem so bad but for some reason its illegial. I wouldnt suggest trying it. Im 14 and Ive had half a beer in my live and that was in Ireland. Just wait a few years.

nope that little is not bad at all. your health class seems to be spouting bulls*** to discourage drinking. Yes heavy alcohol use over a long period of time can cause many severe problems like the ones you've learned, but two beers a month isn't exactly going to make you sterile and cause neurological problems.

but then again, 14 is still pretty young, so be careful that two a month doesn't turn into two a day.

edit: not really something to follow, but i don't drink beer with my friends. in case parents walk in, vodka is very easy to hide and pass off as water... good luck little drinker

pyhsically speaking no it wont affect you but starting befor 18 makes you three times more likely to be a heavy drinker later in life and it doubles the possibility of being an alcoholic at some point in your twenty to thirties

No problem. and Your size does matter. A smaller Person would be more affected by an ounce of alcohol, which on average takes Your body an hour to eliminate. But You are right to be concerned because Your brain will not be fully developed until You are 21, and that is the worst time to abuse drugs or alcohol. For adults most doctors recommend one ounce of alcohol a day, but no more than three.

No. It's not bad. But it is a little worriesome that you are only 14. Im 26 yrs old and starting drinking around your age and I'm no one to judge but I can say that it did lead to heavier drinking and drug use in later years. If you keep your drinking to a minimal that's wonderful and you should enjoy it - but be warned it my lead to worse things...

I relay don't have a great ansewer for you. But I can tell you people have been drinking alochol for thousands of years. It is only in our time it is considered "bad " for you. Hummmmmmmm did the old one know better? Or did these people who's job it is to make laws decide it is bad for you? You have to decide. But I will say this " Don't drink to fit in, get drunk or trying to be cool. Best advice I can give is it is not a life style, but part of life.
