DOES MY LANDLORD HAVE THE RIGHT?

I had a owner of a property contact me in response to my online resume and hired me as a property manager/independent contractor. He said it was manditory that I live on-site and must move from my previous residence, which I did. After 2 months of working for them, the owner started asking me to do illegal things like search through residents trash cans in serach of social security numbers.....I refused to harass the tenats and was fired the next day. I never signed a contract that made my employment official, but i collected money from tenants, paid vendors out-of-pocket, and fulfilled all property manatgement duties. The owner is now trying to evict me under the claims "i am not a resident or tenant but now a squatter. So I am trying to find out if I have any tenant rights or not. I was pulled into this situation by the owner and uprooted my life for this job and now I fear I am about to be homeless. So my question is "AM I A TENANT OR A SQUATTER AT THIS POINT"?

In this kind of a situation your tenancy ends when your job ends. You could argue that you are a tenant on a verbal month to month lease. If you assert this position you still have to move but he must give you 30 days notice.

    "I never signed a contract..."

BIG mistake. If you were risking so much by moving and taking this job why didnt you get something in writing?? There is nothing you can do since you dont have any proof of the agreement. You should move and then contact the police about the ex-boss's illegal activities.
