How easy is it to install water lines for a washer?

I am renting the upper flat of a house, and am wondering how easy it would be to install hot/cold water lines and a drain source so I can buy a stackable washer/dryer unit? I would be putting it in my kitchen about 10 feet from the kitchen sink. Could it be as easy as splitting the water source under the sink and buying long hoses? I want to know if it would work before consulting a contractor (already have LL's blessing).

You could rig up something like that and run the drain outside,,,but no contractor worth his reputation will do it.

You can run the water off your kitchen sink supply easy enough, and the drain can be 1 1/2", but it must have a p-trap at the machine and be vented, this can be done outside the wall if you ( and the landlord) don't mind exposed pipe, a hole will have to be cut in the wall somewhere to tie in the waste and vent.

You can get the water source from the kitchen supply lines, just be careful with the drain line, Laundry drains are usually 2" and a kitchen drain is 1 1/2". Remember that the washing machine pumps out under pressure and your sink drain may not be able to handle the discharge.

You can use hose for it's cheaper and there's no need to damage your wall.
