You can NEVER just break a lease with no notice, roommates or not.
The rest of the answer depends on if you moved in on an existing lease and never signed anything or if you are all on the same lease signed with the landlord.
If you joined an existing lease and never signed anything then you have a month to month sublet. You still cannot just leave. You must give 30 days notice. You did not do that so the roommates can sue you for 1 month rent.
If you are on the lease then you really cannot just leave. You cannot get out of a roommate lease unless the roommates & the landlord all sign something releasing you. Again, you must give 30 days notice. In this case the roommates can sue you for rent through the end of the lease.
There is no point in giving notice after the fact. It is too late and means nothing.
