Someone please help me about my brass?

Ok....my neighbor who happends to be a sergent in the army is always critisizing me on how my torches, ranks, and belt buckle's look....I've watched him multiple times clean his, and I do exactly what he does....and have been for around 3 months....and cant get it even close!....what am I doin wrong? I am using brasso by the way.

    I have alot of brass on my kitchen walls and I clean them with lemons and salt. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle salt on it and rub on the brass. It always works for me. Good luck.

    All you got to do is to use Metal Polish. Then, once all of them are already shiny, apply natural colored nail polish so that there's no need for you to polish it.
    I did this during my high school military training and it worked!
