How to make an above ground pool cover not sink?

OK i have an eighteen foot above ground pool and my cover keeps sinking, we've tried a lot of stuff. Any suggestions? Do you have a pool, if so, how do you keep yours up?

Inflated inner tubes under the cover.

Thanks, Lilly.

Have you tried a grid of PVC pipe to lay the cover on?

    Simple and inexpensive to make.

OOOHHH - the inner tube idea is sooo much better!

Just wanted to add, to the inner tube, you might need a couple, especially if it snows where you are, and tie them to the pool so they stay put, my hubby used rope that was for water skiing.

Go to the pool store. They sell a big inflatable bubble that you put right in the middle of the pool, and then the cover goes on top. Water will probably still collect in a ring near the edges of the pool, but its really no big deal. If the cover is tied down securely, the water on top will build up, but it won't sink your cover because it has the same density as the water underneath it in the pool! I hope you kept your pool water level up at the normal level? Otherwise, then the cover will sink because it has nothing under it to support it.

i had the same problem and now i throw every innertube and air mattress i have in the pool before i cover it. it's a pain when you take off the cover but it works. i like the bubble idea but i've never seen one.

Solid covers must be adjusted after installation to ensure that water does not collect on top of the cover. After installation, flood cover with water. If standing water forms puddles that do not drain, simply loosen the straps on either side of the drain and tighten straps in the areas with the standing water.
