Pride and Prejudice is a romance novel set at the turn of the century in England.
I recommend reading it highly, as it is very well-written and something like the soap operas of today(although much better). There's love, scandal, hot guys(Darcy!), a storyline with lots of twists and turns, and a strong, believable heroine. :)

I'd also suggest watching one of the movie adaptations (Bride and Prejudice is good if you like musicals, or the Pride and Prejudice from the PBS series with Colin Firth as Darcy-yum, yum. X3).

On a side note, I'm 18, in college. Age doesn't matter when it comes to reading a good book. Just try it and see what you think. ^-^

I'm 12 years old and I read it over the summer for fun. It was very good, and well-written but it's kind of hard to understand. You have to like that era.

I really like this book. It's not her best, and many people think it's her worst, but I enjoy it very much.
It's good because the characters are fun, and the plot is fun. I like Mr. Darcy (then again, everybody does, really). I think you might find it difficult to get into, because it's written in such a style, but once you get into the story, it's actually rather captivating.

ugh no. really really boring. i'm a high school senior and i had to read it because i go to harvard westlake, a prestigious high school. austen is sooooo descriptive that you want to throw the book into the fireplace. literally. and her style is annoying. it was like 18th century or 19th century, i'm pretty sure. you know, old fashioned women with pettycoats and so on. really really boring.
a lot of people like pride and prejudice. if you read wuthering heights (which i also don't recommend) and you liked it, go ahead and read this book. same if you read jane eyre. but if you're voluntarily doing this and not for school, and you don't like boring cliche romance books, don't read Pride and Prejudice.

    EDIT

    Darcy is NOT hot.
