I feel like I'm the odd one out?

Question

I'm the only person in my school who likes the heavier side of music and because of this and the length of my hair i keep getting snide comments and stuff said behind my back because of it.
I don't really have any friends in school either so it doesn't help
I try to go with the " I don't give a F***" attitude but it still gets to me
I've bunked off too many times and i can't really bunk off any more because of exams.
I don't know what to do
any ideas?

I have friends that were in a similar situation, one of them is now doing a phd in Physics if you can believe that.

He didn't let anything come between him and his education or his music.

He has told me similar things about the don't give a **** attitude but he only applied it to the people who tried to make fun of him. Now he gets to laugh at them and make music and visit countries to make videos for the music with the money he makes. his site is http://www.myspace.com/ajourneyinchaos

I know how you feel, I love heavy metal music and all I get told his 'EMO' and it's annoying. The I don't give a flying visit attitude does work, but maybe that what's driving people away from you.
