Fasfa special circumstances?

im about to complete the fall semester at my college. for that semester i did not receive any financial aid because my dad had made so much from his taxes the year before.

well my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer on feb 2nd of 09 and hasn't worked since and my question is can i change my fasfa status to where that would be recognized and get some help for the upcoming semester. i do plan to speak with an advisor, this is just until then.

No, YOU can not change your fasfa. However, you can request special consideration based on future income rather than your prior income through your financial aid office.

What that is college is a professional judgement. That is where the financial aid office makes a determination that based on your current status, you might be granted special consideration for pell and subsidized loans based on future income rather than your previous income. What you need to do is contact your office, and submit the documenation that they are requesting. .
