It sounds like you already have a dog.
Who looks after it when you are in school?
Who looks after it if you are involved in sports?
Who will look after the dog when you go to college?

Kids can be responsible pet owners but still their life is so full that the majority of the work falls to the mom.
It is good for moms and dads to teach kids that they cannot do it all and need to make choices. Our children wanted horses. No school sports then because someone needs to clean out the stalls and exercise the horses.

When you are able to pay the expenses and provide the total care of a dog, then you should be able to get another dog,
It would not be fair to your parents to decide for them that they had to give up going out to dinner some times because you wanted another dog. Hard to understand but we all have to consider if what we want would take away someone else's right to decide what they want in life.

You can NOT convince them. No means NO, and nobody over the internet can convince them either.

Sorry, kiddo, so long as you live under your parents' roof on their dime, what they says goes.

How to prove to them you can completely care for a dog? By growing up, getting a job, moving out to a pet-friendly housing situation, and adopting a dog that suits your lifestyle.

If they're saying they don't want another animal, then they just won't go for it.
If I were you, I'd take care of the animals that you already have, and see where things go from there.

sorry to say but you cant convince them once you try once and they say no if you keep bugging them about it it will just make them annoyed and lower your chances even more. i would just enjoy the dog you have now and give it the best life it could possibly have and maybe once the dog you have now passes away you can get a new one.

IF you can't convince them, surely we aren't either. It may sound like a good idea for you, of couse puppies are cute and all, but who buys the food? Or who takes it to the vet and pays the bill? Who is going to housebreak it when your at school? The only thing I can say to you is what my parents told me. "When you grow up you can have as many animals as you want." And I do. I have 1, and thats enough.

if by 'another dog', you mean you already have one or more, try to take over the responsibility for the one(s) you already own to prove that you can do it...
after doing that, you may not want another one:) - and if you do, your aprents might take you more seriously

Listen we've all tried and most of the time it won't work. If you want the possibilty of maybe some day getting another dog you need to remember to be respectful to to your parents, be absolutley patient and ask them on a very mature level if they would ever consider getting another dog. The answer might be no, maybe yes. Don't feel bad if it's no. One day you'll be in charge of that decission and maybe you'll say yes.
    hope this helped

You have to show how responsible you are with the dog you've got. It's their house, their rules so maybe you have to wait until you move out, or maybe they will change their mind after about one year, depends on them.

I had a dog and my sisters and brothers all had one pet each and when we left home my mum had them all to look after, she loves them but she said she didn't sign on to run a boarding kennel

I got my own place and my dog came with me but he died last year, now I have a new one.
