Its more of a pricking and annoying pain than anything. For the outlining, just imagine a tiny needle poking at you repeatedly. It hurts but not that bad. But its annoying! And the coloring part reminds me of a dentist drill. Its just boring into your skin. And the going back and forth part (for the coloring) is so aggrivating. But you get used to it. And once you're comfortable with it, its over. Most of mine are in areas where there is thin flesh (ankles, wrist, etc.). So expect a lot of bleeding in those area.

i have 3 and looking for more hahaha...the 1st one will always hurt more than the others...i would get it in a painful area i.e top of the back or near a bone like the ankls...depends on what ur are getting....cause once u get a tattoo where it hurts the most the others will be easy....take a bottle of oj or some juice u like to keep your blood sugar up...cause you can pass out but if u sip while u take you breaks u'll be fine...plus if its something u really like and want you'll go thru anything to get it hehee

For me it depends on where im gettin my tattoo placed. My first one was on my back. The outline went well then the shading is what made me winse a little. But it was on my back and the skin is a little more tender there. The one on my arm dident really hurt as much. Good luck, dont get antything you'll regert... like my friend who got an " I love Cheeseburgers" tattoo. ( LMAO)

It's going to stain you foreverrrr! Don't get it just because you can!

But, it's like someone constantly scratching you with a pen or something. Like a really annoying, dull pain.

it depends on which bodypart you plan to have tattooed some bits hurt more than others
my first tatto was on the top of my arm and it didn't hurt at all
painful areas tend to be around the wrist, lower back, inside arm, elbow, lower abdomen, pubic area, feet, face
make sure whatever you get you'll be happy with it for the rest of your life

It is a very addictive pain. It does hurt in ways but in sort of a good way. It also depends on what part of the body you get it on. The ankle will hurt because it is on the bone. The upper arm would not hurt much because there is more muscle and fat to cushion the pain of the needle. So judge it by how close the bone is to the surface. I would also agree with the last person. Think long and hard about what you get. It is permanent. Make it meaningful and expressive.

Well it depends on where you're getting it, and the size of it. Certain parts of the body have more nerve endings than others. I know the rib is a very painful spot to get a tat due to the low fat and muscle on that area.

It also depends on how you are on pain, if you have a high pain threshold, you should do fine. I've heard people say it's nothing at all, and some people cry at theirs. The only real way to know is to just get it done. =)

How painful it is depends where you're getting it done. The bony the area, the more it will hurt.

    forget about the pain for now, make sure your design is spot on to what you want, and make sure you get honest oppinions from anyone and everyone :}

unless you have already done this ofcourse, the pain isnt bad, as most people have said it depends where its done on your body. in my opinion it hurs when the first few lines are being done, but bare out that pain and after a few mins it will feel fine.

You cannot legally get it done in the UK until you are 18, so think again.

Im 16 and just got my first tattoo. I have piercings also and I love the feeling of it. Since I'm okay with piercings I thought a tattoo would be no biggie. But getting my tattoo was the worst pain I had ever experienced. I was surprised it hurt so much because it was on the fatty part of my back. But it's not constant pain, thank god. You'll probably go numb in the area that you're getting it done which is a good thing. Just relax and good luck!

I can't tell you enough how important going to a real licensed shop is, please please do not get a home made or amateur tattoo! Tattoos done by non-professionals are not only dangerous to your health but are often poorly done and most people end up regretting them.

Be very very sure the design you have is something you will still want to have on you five, ten, twenty years from now. Don't pick anything trendy like a band or show reference or a boyfriends name! Think about thing you really loved five years ago and how'd you feel today if you had that on you now, most likely you wouldn't want it.

Also keep in mind your whole life is in front of you, get a tatt somewhere you can very easily hide it from future employers. Discrimination over having body art isn't as bad as it used to be but it does still exists and can impact you very negatively in the future.

Choose your shop and artists wisely, go to several places check out how clean the shop is, ask to see the autoclave (the machine which sterilizes the equipment) reputable safe shops will hae NO PROBLEM with this. Ask if they use fresh individual cups of ink and new needles for each person, be sure they wear gloves and clean the work area after each person. You absolutely can get AIDS and Hep C from this if they don't follow safety standards. No tattoo is worth that.

Look at other work the artist has done, they should have a book of work you can look at. Akd the what kind of work they do best, some are good at color but not at black work and vice versa. Pick someone whose work you like and who you feel comfortable with.

The pain is going to vary depending on your tolerance and placement of the tatt. Upper arms and upper back/shoulder area are normally the least painful and also easiest to cover up. It's a good choice for a first tatt.

The needle/needles are very painful normally like an annoying buzz warm feeling. The more painful part is when they wipe the blood and ink off. That feels like someone wiping a bad sunburn with burlap.

I really hope you have a good experience and take everything into consideration before you have this done. You will be 18 in a year and it's very very much worth the wait if you can't go to a shop because of your age right now.

well first make sure you can get a tattoo at 17 where you live. MOST places its 18

painwise, it varies. like, my first two tattoos were on my ankles. i dont think they hurt at all. then i got my next tattoos up by my collarbones and those hurt like a mofo

at no point was it ever unbearable tho. its an oddly addictive kind of pain. like, it hurt like hell, but i still wouldnt mind doing it again
