I happen to remember Voltron Lions 5, but what do you call the other Voltron?

The one with 15 units grouped into three: Water Team, Earth Team, and Air Team.

And how come there existed a different Voltron? I can understand Gundams, but I was still young at that time to learn about them.

How did the second one relate to the existence of the first Voltron? Or was it a separate or alternate existence? My older brother told me that there existed an episode (or OVA, he can't say.) that the two mechas existed in one show. IS THIS TRUE?

The other Voltron story was called 'Armored Squadron Dairugger XV'. According to Anime Invasion magazine (later changed to Anime Insider) "Dairugger XV became the the Voltron of the Near Universe, fighting to save Earth and her allies from the nasty alien Drules. One of the pilots of this Voltron Force is mentioned as having a relative in the Lion Voltron Force, while a later episode of the Lion series reveals that King Zarkon is a renegade Drule, who set to make his own conquests." (Anime Invasion #3 2002 pg36)

A 1-hr 'original' movie titled Voltron: The Fleet of Doom united both the Lion and Vehicle robots to battle against a combined attack of the Drule super-fleet and a new ro-beast piloted by Prince Lotor. Most of the scenes were from various episodes of the 2 seasons with some new stuff thrown in.

On a side note, there was a lost 3rd season to Voltron. It never really went under the Voltron title but it followed a similar concept. 3 robots called Alpha, Beta, and Gamma united together to create a variety of robot/vehicle combinations, plus the most powerful robot 'Super Albegas'.

My brother watched voltron when we were kids and he got me hooked on it, that's why I know a bit about it. In essence the credit goes to him cuz I don't think I would have watched it if he didn't force me to.
