Metaphysics (Philosophy)?

Metaphysics deals with the challege "What is real?"
therefore my question pretains to metaphyics
whether or not other life forms exist in other planets
I was told that christians believe that God made it so that the life on earth was only possible. However my argument is
since there are about 1 to 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone, and each galaxy inhabiting a planet. Then saying there are billions of galaxies in a universe. There has to be a chance of life on other planet, right? there just has to be?

Recently the Roman Catholic Church put out a document in which the Church says that it has no problem if Christians believe there is intelligent life on other planets. So please, not all Christians are narrow minded. Some believe that life exists on many planets.

A long time ago, a scientist named Frank Drake proposed an equation to tell how many civilizations exist in the galaxy. I'm giving you a link to the Drake Equation that lets you plug in the numbers and gives the results. Hope you like it.

I believe that the people who wrote the Bible had very little concept of other planets and stars, so they probably never even considered the possibility of life existing elsewhere, which doesn't really count as denying it.

Also, the number of planets, solar systems and galaxies doesn't necessarily mean that there must be life elsewhere. We only know of one place where life exists, here, and one sample is not big enough to extrapolate that it must exist elsewhere. However, if even the tiniest bacteria is found somewhere else then that extrapolation would be safe, and we could assume that life must exist somewhere else.

People forget time when thinking about this one. It is not only about the incredible amount of planets in the Universe, we have to also realize that there is a lot of time for changes to occur, and for life to appear and disappear during any stage.

But I thought metaphysics dealt with the point of studying the state of "being" or something like that...like the base to all other studies of reality.

There being a good chance of life elsewhere in the universe like humanity does not mean its a neccessity.

    and God knows best

    Oh my!
For us to think God only created us would be a mistake.
Yes, there are other life forms that exist.
    Good luck with your answers.
