Doesn't a violent revolution cancel all Treaties?

For example when the US had its violent revolution against Brtiain, there were no holdover treaties that had been made with the colonies that continued in force.

Or when Mao took over in China, there were no treaties made with Chang that survived.

So how come Iran is claiming some rights to nuclear technology under treaties made with the Shah?

Those old Atoms for Peace Program treaties and agreements were wiped out by the violent overthrow of the Shah's whole form of government and its replacement by a radically different theocracy.

There is no legal basis for any claim to any nuclear rights based on old agreements made with the government under the Shah.

Why can't the US State Department see that simple point?

Why are we always played for suckers by foreigners, and then our own State Department sides with the foreigners?

Iran has no "right" to ANYTHING nuclear. Not fuel, not technology, NOTHING.

If Iran does behaviors that threaten the security of USA, then USA will take whatever steps are necessary and proper to re-establish its security, and to assure it for the future.

We are now building 6000 pound HE Bunker busters. I don't think we're going to drop them on Patagonia, or on Tiera del Fuego.

Iran should wake up and fly right. The Sistani and Ahmadinejad people are driving Iran over a cliff. Is there no one in that country that's awake?

Precisely.

Those treaties were made with a responsible government.

An irrewsponsible government such as the one currently in Iran has no right to expect that treaties made with the previoous government are still valid.

Also the history of irresponsible behavior by the Mullahs and Ayatollahs and their financial support of Muslim Terrorism is also a breach of those Treaties.

Once they have breached those Treaties, they have no right to claim any benefits from those Treaties.

Asker's Comment:
Mike you have it right. The Shah was asked to make certain pledges of good conduct and proper behavior when he signed up. Once he was replaced by a barbarian government the treaties were forfeited by the bad conduct of the Sistani and Ahmedinejad Regime. Iran has no treaty-based negotiating points.
