The Color Purple - this is an excellent book. very confronting though, i really liked it, though some bits i did cringe at. Deffinetly read it.

Frankenstein- there is a reason why its a classic, its an excellent book. and alot of other texts use this in reference so its good to read, just to have that knowledge.

I've read Pride and Prejudice, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Crucible. Out of these, The Crucible was my favorite, so I would say read that one.

Ya - read lots of them - and you've picked out world-class stuff. Are you trying to read it all?? It will take a while - but you'll have quite an education when you're done.

It all depends on who you are and what you want out of your reading as to where you start on the list.
