Project Management Professional (PMP) certification?

Hi, I'm an Enginner, working for both design and project management. I am thinking to get PMP certification, but I'm not sure how much this certification will make a positive impact to advance my career these days. So do employers really care about PMP at all?

It really depends on the employer, but it's certainly becoming a requirement for many of them. My advice would be to look at the current job descriptions from companies that you'd like to work for, and check if it's required.

A quick search of monster.com or similar will suggest that it will have an impact. Rightly or wrongly, many employers are using PMP certification to screen applicants.

Just because you have your PMP doesn't mean you're any good as a project manager, but it does mean you at least understand what you're supposed to be doing.
