Why do gay people desire Christianity, but not pagansim where they are accepted?

Like most gays in the US claim Christianity.

But why? Pagan religions accept homosexuality a whole lot more than Christianity, well, the followers anyway.

So why don't they ever persue some pagan religion?

i can't speak for anyone but myself. but i am a gay/trans christian because i am gay and trans and believe that Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God. it's really as simple as that. if you believe yourself, than it matters not what others believe, i am not responsible for them, i will eventually answer for my own life....as, i believe, will we all.

much love and hope. pj

You are operating under an erroneous premise, and it's not surprising. You should be careful, though.

You don't *hear* a lot about paganism, so you can't possibly know what the ratio of gays in paganism is in comparison to the same in relation to Christianity.

You also need to take into consideration all of the other religions as well as the very lack of interest in religion and those who, like me, oppose religion entirely.

Your curiosity is fine, but do attempt to limit generalization. It doesn't make you appear to be as intellegent as you likely are, in reality.

    Christianity accepts gays to...
Im Roman Catholic and my church is very accepting.
The Episcopal Church USA, Church of Sweden, and United Methodist Church are all also very tolerant and accepting. Heck, theres even a Christian church made just for the LGBT community: the Metropolitan Community Church.

I don't know. I was a christian for more than 13 years (I'm an atheist now and about to turn 14), and then I realised it was pointless. Christianity is hypocritical and mean. If more people were atheists we wouldn't have as much hate in the world--a lot of prejudice and hate pops up from religions!

i am no longer christian, but i can answer for myself about this.

i grew up in the church. at one time, God was all i loved. it was all i knew. i prayed at the drop of a hat. to me, God was my only comfort. while i did come out and accept myself for who i was, i still couldn't pull away from religion.

not until many years later and countless hours of religious study, did i realize that i no longer believed.

edit: i found that all the time I prayed, it was only for myself. there was no one else there. while it may have been good psychologically (as studies have shown faith and prayer are), it was disappointing to me to feel abandoned and left to fend for myself. i realized that all those years, there was no god there.

Now, I am a Buddhist. I find the same fulfillment I had with prayer, in meditation.

I can not, nor will I ever bow to any god(s).

EDIT: this body will one day cease to function, yes. but i believe that i will be reborn to live again.

no one really knows what happens when we die. that is why we created the idea of faith to fill in the blanks.

Because we are all made in the image of God and their is a space in our soul that only He can fill. All people instinctively know this.
