Cavities and needle phobia?
i am 13 years old and i have the worst needle phobia EVER right before i get a shot or whatever i feel like i am gonna die, i freak out. and after i usually pass out, or get really close. i went in to get 4 cavities filled and i had valium and gas and when they said just a little pinch i snapped my jaws shut and i wouldnt open up and so after an hour of trying to coax me we left and i still had 4 cavities. That was 5 months ago and my mom wont let me go to hollyball if i dont get them filled. any tims? could i take a sleeping pill before, if so what pill over the counter will TOTALLY KNOCK ME OUT? and what other drugs could i take before that wouldnt interfere with the nocacane? Please help my teeth are starting to hurt.

Everyone hates needles, but it's only a few seconds. while your on your little dentist chair, just take deep breathes and close your eyes, whatever you do don't look to see when shes putting it in, It doesn't help. I has to be done or else do you want to lose your teeth forever!?

Ok so u already know what needs to b done here. Get them filled and move on with ur life. It really is that simple. Yes, ur scared and it seems like the hardest thing to do but its not. Getting there is the hard part (trust me). Talk to ur dentist and let him or her know ur scared. This will help them deal with u better. They can not treat a nervous patient the same as a non nervous patient can they? I think not. So, if they don't know ur scared and what ur afraid of then how can they help you? they can't. U do not need to b knocked out..seriosuly save ur money. Have mom go with u and hold ur hand if need b. If you dw ur mom too then hold the Dental Assistants hand. Have them talk to you while giving the injection and whatever else. Bring some music and listen to it while ur there. I have a friend her and the dentist listens to music together they laugh and talk and have a good time. Not all dentist are mean and careless.
They can't help u tho unless ur upfront about what's going on. Ur already experiencing pain and guess what? it wont get any better. So, have ur cavities taken care of now. If u have to cry and scream thru it then so be it. (plz don't scream unless u really must lol) this will only scare others and that's not nice lol but u can cry ur eyes out and that is perfectly fine. Ur dentist will not laugh at ur nor talk about u and guess what..they won't think any less of u either. If u want to go to hollyball (btw what is that?) then go and b a big girl..notice I did not say a "tough girl" that's so over rated. Get it done. In the end it won't b as bad as u think. Don't look at the needle. I have a friend who use to b the same way...
ur actually a lot more calmer than her..getting her in the chair was the worse part ever. But she found a dentist would understood and now she's ok with shots (in general too). Take ur time if need b. Ur dentist can work with you. Close ur eyes count to 10 and then u will b done with the shot part. Bottomline is u can do this! don't listen to others and their stories. Trust ur dentist. I have come to notice that when u trust ppl things r not as hard..trust that ur dentist is not going to hurt u (not mean too anyway) trust that he or she knows what they are doing and that ur in good hands. B open about whatever is going on and speak ur mind. If they're hurting u then by all means tell them. If things were ok then by all means let them know that it wasn't as bad as u thought..they love hearing things like that.
Good luck! u will b fine. If u need to talk more just send me a e-mail. Hope this helps! u can do it! keep telling urself this cuz its true. U can. I'm believing n u. Get them filled.

Try and assure youself that it won't hurt when they get your teeth filled don't worry. It's just a bit of a loud noise and some anesthetic.
