There were city-states long before a unified nation of peoples... but you're going to consider Egypt, China, India as some of the first actual countries. Persia is really a loose term used for centuries of dynastic governments that governed a similar region and peoples with moderate or heavy expansion.

The oldest of the nations are Mesopotamia/Sumer and Egypt.

The first City-States were in Mesopotamia though.
That included Sumeria, Assyria, Akkad, Babylon.

And Egypt kind became a complete force of its own.

The first mention of the Persians dates to the 9th century BCE, when they appear as the Parsu in Assyrian sources, as a people living at the southeastern shores of Lake Urmia.
So they were not united as a people / nation until the ancient Persians from the province of Pars became the rulers of a large empire under the Achaemenid dynasty (Hakhamaneshiyan) in the sixth century BCE, reuniting with the tribes and other provinces of the ancient Iranian plateau and forming the Persian Empire.

The founding dynasty of the Persians as ONE people where the Achaemenids.

I agree with the others - Egypt is probably the first. China maybe the 2nd, unless you want to say Iraq. Persia comes much later, although in their own national epic it is of course the very first.

You could say so, but I think of Persia as the first advanced civilization and not the first country. Persia first became a "country" under the Medians who united it. Before that it was a series of devided city states.
Although the Elamites that lived in Iran(Persia) were the first or one of the first to establish a real empire or nation. This empire was older than the Egyptian empire and according to some sources it is older than the Akkadian Empire which was the first true nation in Mesopotamia.

Some of you guys need to study a little more...! First civilization appeared in Iranian plateau back to 3500BC to 5000BC named as Elamite … Take a look at the sources I write for you...And as matter of fact Elamit(Iran) was the second civilization after summer...Assur , Memphis(Egypt) and Babylon appeared after Elamit and as you have to know Elamit destroyed by Assur first millennium BC ..After Elamit, Aryans(race) (Include Medians ,Persians ,Parthians) which lived in some part of Iranian Plateau made the greatest kingdom in the world during first millennium BC...First Medes Made Median Empire Which win a war against Assur and Destroy them, then Persians made Achaemenid empire which win a war against Babylon and Egypt and destroy them.. So Iran has older history than Egypt, China, India, Greece and every other country... read some history you guys...!
